HOME OF THE BRUINS Easton Stadium was opened on February 19th, 1994 and has since been the home of UCLA Bruins for the last 12 seasons.  Newly redesigned in 2004-2005, Easton Stadium now features seating for 1,328 fans, sunken dugouts, batting cages, a 28-foot electronic scoreboard and message center, a concession stand, a team clubhouse and permanent public bathrooms.  Upon completion of these renovations Easton Stadium has truly become one of the most beautiful and state-of-the-art facilities in all of college softball.There is not a more storied stadium in college softball, evidenced by the 11 National Championship banners that are displayed along the outfield wall.  In fact the stadium itself is as much the home field for UCLA Softball as it is a monument to the success of past players and coaches.  The stadium is named for famed sports apparel and equipment manufacturer and former Bruin (class of ’59) James L. Easton, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Jas D. Easton Inc.  It was his generous donation to UCLA athletics that allowed for the creation of Easton Stadium.

Every aspect of the stadium features a nod to the great players and coaches from seasons past.  The previously mentioned outfield wall is decorated with 11 National Championship banners, with each banner immortalizing standout players from that year’s team.  Sharron Backus Clubhouse features a wall dedicated to UCLA Olympians, past All-Americans and National Championship Teams.

UCLA’s Sharron Backus Clubhouse, completed in 1999, is a tribute to former UCLA Head Coach Sharron Backus.  The building is a reminder to all present at Easton Stadium of UCLA’s first Head Coach and mentor to Sue Enquist.  The Head Coach of 8 National Championship teams, Backus was also named Pac-10 Coach of the Year four times.  Her career record of 854-173-3 (all at UCLA) makes her the second winningest coach in NCAA history.  Gone, but not forgotten, Coach Backus’ legacy will always remain a part of Easton Stadium.
